Blogging Service

Previously I was using Google’s Blogger service but found my self unsatisfied with the finished product.   I know that if I paid for a blogging service or at least a hosting service and ran my own web server I could do whatever I want but I am trying to keep this free.  

So here I am on WordPress.com.  So far I am happy with WordPress.  There are certainly advantages (or features) and disadvantages when comparing WordPress to Blogger.  I enjoy the simplicity and the themes in WordPress but the one free feature that I am missing is the ability to write my own code and add to my sites.
